June 2005 : Quite The Month to be in Montréal
Montréal, June 9, 2005
This is only June 9 and the month has already shown quite a promise for the upcoming Montreal summer.
Place des Arts was full Monday evening, both indoors and outdoors, when the additional performance of Carmen was performed before a full-house and broadcast on a giant screen for the 10,000 people who couldn't get tickets. This Saturday, MSO musicians who are currently on strike are offering a second concert at Eglise Saint-Jean-Baptiste.
Now this is F1 Grand-Prix weekend - just a few days after the Féria du Vélo yearly cycling festival.
Foodwise the choice is yours when it comes to outstanding restaurants but something quite unusual awaits you if you decide to attend the Insectarium's 6-Legged Picnic.
Talking legs, there are always fashion shows during the Grand-Prix. These are listed in the Montreal festival list - see below for links. Festival de théâtre des Amériques just ended, MUTEK as well, but the end of the month Jazz Festival's full program is available.
Museum exhibitions are also a tough choice this year. Between the 60's, the Vatican, Appearances, Holgate, Einstein and the Roman Gauls... just to name a few.
