Pointe-a-Calliere

Where Montreal Was Born

Montreal, May 22, 2003

For a true step back in time, a walk in the ruins dating back to the 1600's is where you'll make incredible discoveries. The Pointe-a-Calliere, Montreal Museum of Archaeology and History may be only 11 years old but it's permanent exhibit has been already given a touch of youth with new lights, new interactive displays, and new virtual characters and extinct birds.

Nothing gets built in Old Montreal nowadays until the city's archaeologists check out the site first. 60% of the objects currently shown come from artifacts found in recent years. Actually, more than 40 digging sites can be visited throughout Quebec with the help of Archeo-Quebec.
